Catherine Yanko, Andrew Ahlersmeyer, Zachary Borntrager and Jocelyn Chilcote were recently awarded a $500 George Jordan Memorial Scholarship from General Credit Union (GCU).
Each student graduated in the upper 25% of their high school graduating class and was accepted to or currently attending an accredited college or university this fall as a full-time student. The selection committee looked for an over-all level of high achievement, academic work, evidence of quality of character, initiative, integrity, concern for others, the ability to overcome personal obstacles and financial need.
“We are pleased to acknowledge these four students and the efforts they are making to better themselves and their community. They are truly examples of strong young people who are very deserving of this award,” said Clinton Miller, CEO of General Credit Union. “I am especially proud of them, and take great pride in the role that GCU plays in the advocacy for education and empowerment in Fort Wayne.”
